Top 5 Neck Traction Devices

Top 5 Neck Traction Devices

Choosing a neck traction device can be overwhelming. There are many different types of devices which are unique in their own way, especially in terms of their effectiveness of doing what they state they do: relieving neck pain!  What’s important is to choose a cervical traction device that is comfortable, durable and applies an appropriate amount of traction. As a chronic neck pain sufferer, I’ve tested many devices currently available on the market. Some are so-so and others have provided much needed pain relief. Most of the reviews can be found on this website. In this article, I’ll briefly go over the best five neck traction devices currently availabe.

#1 – Saunders Hometrac Deluxe 199594

The Saunders device is by far the best on the market. While it may come with a steep price tag, too expensive for some, I find that it is the most effective device on the market. Using a unique pump and gauge system it will apply up to 50 pounds of traction and can be adjusted to 15 degree, 20 degree and 25 degree angles to ensure your maximum comfort. Overall this is a well-built, durable device that will provide you long lasting results. For this reason I must give it #1 choice of all devices currently available.

#2 – Comfortrac Home Cervical Traction Device

This Comofrtrac device is considered a professional-level device. Using this device, you will get the exact same treatment you would get at a physical therapy clinic. I’ve even heard therapists raving about the effectiveness of this device. It is also built to lasts. I’ve spoken to people who have used this device for over 5 years. The pump is effective at increasing pressure and you will instantly feel the traction in your neck. I found that the wedges provide a high level of comfort.

#3 – Pronex Pneumatic

The Pronex cervical traction device is another lay-down device that is easy to use and can be used right out of the box. While this device is durable and provides significant traction, based on my initial testing, I found that it is not as effective as either the Saunders or Comfortrack devices. Given that these devices are all in the same high price range. However, this is still a professional-level device that will apply provide lasting relief. Another great feature is that it comes in different sizes. There’s an option for those who are 5’2 or 6’4!

#4 – Neckpro Adjustable Door Device

Neckpro Over the Door Neck Traction

The Neckpro neck traction device is not your typical device as in it doesn’t apply pressure using a pump to apply air or water pressure. This device attaches to your door and uses a ratcheting mechanism to apply tension. Personally, I don’t find this device comfortable because you need to either be standing or sitting awkwardly. Nevertheless, it applies quite a bit of traction and you can definitely feel immediate relief. The price is extremely reasonable which makes it a great choice for those on a budget.

#5 – Besttrust Air Traction Device

Neck Traction Device Information

If you are looking for a cheap device that provides uneven amounts of traction, this is the one for you! This is can be summed up as “you get what you pair for”. The Besttrust device provides  traction using air pressure. I found that the pump does not do a great job at applying an equal amount of tension to each side of my neck. If you’re in serious pain, do not expect long lasting relief. For those who have mild non-persisting levels of pain, it’s worth a shot!

If you have experience with any of these devices, please leave a comment! What are your thoughts on these five? If you’ve ever used any other model of neck traction device, please let us know. We would love to try them and write up a review.
